Be Happy

Be Happy

One day I came across a negative emotion,

I asked, “who are you?”

The emotion replied, “I am here to make you sad.”

I smiled, I did not reply.

The emotion came back the next day,

Asked me –

“Aren’t you sad?”

I smiled, I did not reply.

The emotion kept coming to me,

When one day I said –

“You cannot make me dejected no matter how hard you try

For I choose to be happy no matter how or why.”

The other day I came across an angry emotion,

I asked, “who are you?”

The emotion screamed “Shout and yell in anger”.

I smiled, I did not reply.

The emotion came back the next day

Asked me –

“Aren’t you irate?”

I smiled, I did not reply.

Both emotions joined hands and came raging to me,

When my lips curved that smile of mine

And said softly –

“Anger is a lazy form of grief

I have dealt with enough of sorrows that make me stand tall

You may try hard to make me cry or make me howl

See yourself that I choose happiness above all”.

For you see happiness is healing,

Painful that path can be,

Take the bumpy ride to mend,

Shred your nightmares and make amends.

Happiness is a positive motivation,

Empty that negativity,

Pour your sorrows on that river,

Let that water carry away the sad tears forever.

Listen to the craving of your soul,

Love and nurture the joys and laughter,

Let the happiness spill out of you,

And make cheerful the lives of all around you.
